Community Access
get out and take part.
Having a support worker alongside you opens up the community. Community access isn't just about getting somewhere. It's about participating fully in the things you want to do, with someone in your corner.
More than just transport
Community access support is about being part of things. Whether that's getting to a medical appointment, joining a social group, visiting a cafe, or heading to a sports event, your support worker is there to make it happen.
The places you go and the things you join are your call. We provide the support that makes it possible. For some participants that means physical assistance. For others it's confidence, navigation, or just having someone familiar alongside them.
Community access looks different for every person. We take the time to understand what you want from it before we start.
Where we can support you
Our programs are community access too
Thrive Pathways runs its own group programs, all funded under the Social and Community Participation budget. They're a great way to connect with other people, build new skills, and be part of something.
A facilitated D&D group led by Claire. Roll characters, go on adventures, and connect with a great group of people. Online via Discord.
A music-based social program. No experience needed. Just people who like music, having a good time together.
An online Minecraft group for participants who love gaming. Claire-led sessions in a safe, moderated environment.
A hands-on technology and tinkering program. Electronics, builds, creative tech projects, and curiosity welcome.
Same budget, different format. Group programs are funded under Category 04, the same budget as individual community access support. Talk to us about which approach suits your plan and your goals.
NDIS funding for community access
Community access is funded under Assistance with Social and Community Participation (Core Supports, Category 04). This covers both individual 1:1 community access support and group programs like Thrive's own social programs.
Plan-managed participants: your plan manager handles invoicing. Self-managed participants: you pay and claim through the NDIS portal.
Not sure if this is in your plan? Get in touch and we'll help you check.
